Week 2 Essay: Healthcare POLS210 November 20, 2016 Healthcare Currently, there are many issues that are being debated in the American healthcare system. While many of these issues have been debated upon for many years, they have recently been debated and focused on more heavily due to the Presidential election. One of the most prominent problems that is being debated right now is the cost of health insurance. Originally, the Affordable Healthcare Act was supposed to make healthcare insurance affordable and more attainable. Years after the Affordable Healthcare Act was implemented; it is apparent that it was a failure for the most part. In a great majority of cases, it failed the many Americans. The Affordable Healthcare Act in a great many cases has made healthcare insurance less affordable for the American people. The insurance costs have been on a steady incline since the Affordable Healthcare Act was put into play. It also failed by creating a federal tax for those Americans that could not afford to get coverage for themselves. There is a n array of opinions on this topic, but the majority of Americans agree that change is needed. The Presidential election this November was a stage for the debate of healthcare insurance costs. Donald Trump listen to the popular opinion of the majority of Americans and prosed to repeal the Affordable Healthcare Act/Obamacare. This solution of getting rid of Obamacare and the Affordable Healthcare Act is one that the majority of America agreed with. This solution was the most popular and was the solution that is most believed to be the most efficient and most correct solution. As far as this solution goes, healthcare insurance would return to the way it was prior to 2010 when the Affordable Healthcare Act went into place. In the bigger picture premiums, would drop and that ridiculous tax for not being to afford health insurance would vanish. Yet another solution is to leave the Affordable Healthcare Act intact, but to get the premiums down by getting the non-profit insurers back into the insurance Marketplace. The goal would be to get those non-profit insurers into insuring again at higher numbers so as to cut down on the numbers being insured by for-profit companies. A great many believe that the rise in for-profits insuring in the Marketplace is a cause to the rise in insurance premiums and other costs. It is proposed that if the vast majority was being insured by non-profits the premiums and costs would fall. The American people would again be able to purchase health insurance for companies that were not in it solely to make money for themselves and their company, but instead would actually care about the people, as well as care about being able to provide affordable and reliable health insurance. The solution to the rising and outlandish costs of health insurance that seems to be the best, and most popular with public opinion, is to repeal and do away with the Affordable Healthcare Act/Obamacare. The public opinion spoke in the Presidential election and the candidate that side with this solution won the election. There is no question that this is the solution that is agreed upon my most American people. Before the Affordable Healthcare Act was implemented, there were lower deductibles and premiums. There was also not a tax for not being able to afford and purchase health insurance. This solution is the only one that the American people believe would work. It is the solution they feel necessary in order to get things back on track. We need to start back at ground zero again as far as health insurance and the cost of health insurance goes. Federal government is the one that has the most effect on healthcare and its costs. There are a few rules and regulations at a state level, but the clear majority is Federal. Healthcare insurance companies like to pride themselves on being private; however, since the Affordable Healthcare Act has come into play that just is not that case. The federal government has rules and regulations that the companies must follow nowadays, plus the federal government also provides funds for some insurance companies such as Medicaid and Medicare. This paper will document the autobiography of Archimedes of Syracuse, who has been considered a pioneer through inventing mathematical formulas. â€Å"Archimedes of Syracuse† Archimedes was born to Phidias, a mathematician and an astronomer in 287 BC in Syracuse, a city in Sicily (Zannos, 2005). There is no clear information about his early life and his family, but some people claim that his nobility was of Syracuse and that he was related to the King of Syracuse, Hiero II. During this period, Syracuse was considered a centre of commercial activities and as a young person growing in this busy city Archimedes developed an interest in solving complex mathematical problems facing the people of Sicily (Anderson, 2009). After acquiring much information from the local schools he attended in Syracuse, he travelled to Egypt for further learning in Alexandria University. Upon completion of his education, Archimedes travelled back to Syracuse where he lived a life of innovative thinking and solving problems through critical thinking as well as application of mathematical formulas (Geymonat, 2010). King Hiero II was impressed by Archimedes’ inventions which o ffered solutions to various challenges (Neal, 2011). One of Archimedes’s inventions that impressed King Hiero II was Archimedes’ screw that enabled the King to empty water from a hull of his ship. Archimedes was also asked by the king to find out how he could determine the amount of gold on his crown without destroying it. Archimedes addressed this by immersing it in water and determining the volume of the water it displaced, then determining the weight of the crown, thus its density (Dijksterhuis, 2009). This information enabled him to determine the purity of the crown. Apart from his innovations, Archimedes participated in the defense of Sicily from the Romans. Sicily was considered a centre of political and geological activities, as an Island located between Carthage and Rome, Sicily was faced by the challenge of ally issues. That is, the King did not know whether to form an ally with either Rome or Carthage: This is because, forming an ally with i.e. Rome, could have led to enmity between Sicily and Carthage (Gow, 2005). Archimedes was given the responsibility of constructing walls to protect the city from Carthaginian or Roman attacks. He also developed war machines that could be used during attacks. In geometry, Archimedes contributed significantly towards the development of the basic principles of pivot as well as pulley system. He also contributed significantly towards the understanding of the principle of buoyancy, defined as the power of liquid to exert an upward force on an object placed in it (Paipetis, 2010). Satan’s desire and purpose is nothing but to be God. We find in the passage that Lucifer wanted to raise his throne above the stars of God. Satan is the author of desire, lust and thirst for position. His mind is clearly revealed in this passage. He wanted to be like the most high. Throughout the bible we find Satan relentlessly attempting to make himself like God. Yet another passage that confirms the mentioning of Satan in Isaiah 14 is Ezekiel 28. Here we find a proud king, king of Tyre who represents Satan. Satan, the father of pride and idolatry is ruling the heart of king of Tyre. We find the lamentation about king of Tyre, Satan. We find that he was in the Garden of Eden, among the fiery stones. He was adorned with precious stones, and was a shining star in heaven. In the same passage we find Satan being thrown out of heaven. His pri de pushed him out of heaven. We find his fall to the earth from heaven. It is the same fall Jesus mentions in Luke 10:18. The description of the fallen star in Isaiah 14, Luke 10 and Ezekiel 28 refer to Satan, the fallen angel. The pride of the fallen star mentioned in Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28 accounts to Satan alone. Satan’s status before the God prior to his fall is also explained in Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28. In Ezekiel we read that â€Å"Thus says the Lord God: â€Å"You were the signet of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. You were in Eden, the garden of God every precious stone was your covering, sardius, topaz, and diamond, beryl, onyx, and jasper, sapphire, emerald, and carbuncle; and crafted in gold were your settings and your engravings. On the day that you were created they were prepared. You were an anointed guardian cherub. I placed you; you were on the holy mountain of God; in the midst of the stones of fire you walked. You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created, till unrighteousness was found in you† (The Holy Bible). Who other than Satan was found in the Garden of Eden? Satan who remained as the guardian angel for Adam and Eve sinned against God and man because of his pride and thirst for glory and power. This unrighteous attitude of Satan is mentioned in the passages. Satan’s unrighteousness was found on the day he developed the desire to place himself above God. Isaiah explain this unrighteousness as â€Å"You said in your heart, ‘I will ascend to heaven; above the stars of God; I will set my throne on high; I will sit on the mount of assembly in the far reaches of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High’† (The Holy Bible). The consequence of Satan’s pride is also mentioned in Isaiah 14. We read that â€Å"How you are fallen from heaven, O Day Star, son of Dawn! How you are cut down to the ground, you who laid the nations low!† (The Holy Bible). The explanation of Satan’s position before God, his beauty, his adornment, his perfection and his place (in the Garden of Eden) in Ezekiel resembles to the glory and honor of Satan mentioned in Isaiah 14. Isaiah describes him as morning star, son of the dawn. Ezekiel finds him walking in the stones of fire. The status of Satan before and after the fall coincides in all the three passages. The author wrongly assumes that the high share of jobs in manufacturing sector as a representative of its share of total jobs. Further, unemployment rate and high share of manufacturing jobs are not the criterions that corporations look for when investing in a new location. The author should have provided some other information which corporations look for in order to make a more logical conclusion. Further, author states that Helios is attempting to expand its economic base by attracting companies that focus on research and development of innovative technologies. Author fails to state what is being offered by Helios to attract the corporations. Author once again fails to provide complete information. Author must have stated the various schemes, stimulus packages, tax exemptions, land allocation etc which could be offered to the companies if they invest in Helios. Thus, the author does not provide valid evidences and complete information in order to evaluate the argument putforth. Author should provide additional specific and relvant information so that corporation can evaluate whether to invest in Helios or not.
